A player who repeatedly attempts to coerce their opponent into such an agreement may be penalized with a game or set loss, depending on the severity and frequency of the infraction.

Set Procedure
- Prior to Game 1:
- Competitors select their characters for Game 1, either competitor may request a Double-Blind character selection
- If a player wishes to choose a random character, that character may remain unknown to both players until the game starts only if the random character pool includes ALL characters
- Competitors play a best-of-1 in Rock-Paper-Scissors (RPS) to determine the order for stage striking
- Competitors take turns removing stages from the list of 5 starter stages (see above) in a P1-P2-P2-P1 order with the winner of RPS striking first, the stage that remains is the stage for Game 1
- Competitors select their characters for Game 1, either competitor may request a Double-Blind character selection
- Between Games in the Set (“Character-first” procedure):
- Winner of prior game selects their character for the next game, they are allowed to switch characters
- Loser of prior game selects their character for the next game, they are allowed to switch characters
- Winner of prior game bans 2 stages from the full list of legal stages, including both starters and counterpicks; the ban is effective for the next game only and does not persist throughout the set
- Loser of the prior game selects the stage for the next game from the remaining unbanned stages, they cannot select a stage they won on earlier in the set (DSR)

What is Evo?
The Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short) represents the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world. For over 20 years, Evo has brought the best players from around the world together for an electric weekend of fun and competition.
Evo plays host to fighting game players and fans in a prestigious series of open bracket tournaments to crown annual Evo Champions. In addition to the competition, Evo is a celebration of fighting games and the rich culture surrounding them. Evo 2026 is that event!
For those who can’t make it in person, Evo 2026’s competitions will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube.
WHEN AND WHERE IS EVO 2026?
Evo 2026 runs from Friday, June 26, 2026 through Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, West Exhibition Hall. This year, Top 8 Finals for six of our featured titles will take place in the arena within the same West Exhibition Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The venue is located at 300 Convention Center Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89109, USA.

Yes. Tournament finalists win medals, trophies, and their share of Evo’s total $500,000 prize pool. Distribution of this prize pool is determined by each game's total registration count, in descending order from most registered game to least registered game, according to the table below.

You can attend Evo 2026 by purchasing a ticket for the event at start.gg/evo. Your ticket will be available for pickup on-site starting the day before the event and will come with a lanyard, badge, and water bottle.
“Wait, do I need anything else?”
Nope! Your Evo badge will get you access to the Evo show floor, tournament areas, and the Arena Finals Experience on Saturday. The Arena Finals Experience on Sunday is a separate item that must be purchased as an add on. You should bring your own controller if you’re competing or want to utilize the free play consoles.Badges also grant entry into the Cosplay Contest, Bring Your Own Console and Community Showcase areas, and other on-site activities. All badges include reentry. All attendees who want to exit the show floor or Arena Finals Experience and return at a later time will be able to do so.
Badges must be worn around the neck and be fully visible at all times in the Convention Center. Badges are only valid for a single individual.
“What about refunds, exchanges, transfers, or cancellations?”
All ticket sales are final. No refunds, exchanges, or transfers will be available. In the event Evo 2026 is canceled, your ticket will be refunded. There is no authorized resale of any Evo tickets. Please note that tickets for Evo 2026 not purchased via start.gg/evo are not permitted.Anyone caught reselling tickets or credentials will have their access revoked and not be permitted into the event for the remainder of the weekend.
“What if I lose my badge?”
You are responsible for your badge. Lost or stolen badges cannot be replaced or refunded.“Do my friends and family need passes?”
Yes, everyone over the age of 6 needs to be in possession of a badge to attend Evo 2026.“Can children attend Evo 2026?”
Anyone under the age of 18, you will need a parent or adult legal guardian to sign paperwork to be on-site at the event chaperoning your experience.Children under the age of 6 can attend Evo for free with any badged parent or adult legal guardian. Any child over the age of 6 will require a badge to enter the convention floor.
