It’s a great time to be a fighting game fan. Modern titles continue to receive support, the classics are more accessible than ever, and there are countless new releases on the horizon to look forward to. And what better place to enjoy this era of fighting game prosperity than at Evo, where the whole community comes together to celebrate our shared love of the genre. With competitor registration closed and Evo 2025 just over two weeks away, let’s take a look at some of the numbers and statistics for this year’s tournaments.
Evo 2025 Final Registration Leaderboard Numbers
Altogether, there are 8,541 players registered to compete at Evo this year. Of these, nearly half of them are signed up for Street Fighter 6, which holds the top spot on the leaderboard for the third year in a row with 4,228 entrants. TEKKEN 8 maintains the second spot after its debut last year, bringing in 2,521 competitors. The race for third place was a close one, with fewer than 100 tournament entries separating our final two Sunday Arena titles. In the end, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves took the lead with a final total of 1,576 players for its Evo debut. In its fourth year in Las Vegas, Guilty Gear -Strive- holds strong at 1,508 entrants to hold on to a Sunday Top 8 spot.
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising takes fifth place in registration this year with 936 players, followed by MARVEL vs. CAPCOM 2 at 570. Not only does this make it the largest MvC2 bracket of all time, but it also continues the streak of attendance records set by the Evo Throwback game that has been consistent since the concept’s introduction. The final two Arena Lineup titles, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes and Mortal Kombat 1, round out this year’s roster with 547 and 377 entrants, respectively. These are the eight games that will have their Finals played out on the Arena stage, but they aren’t the only featured tournaments on the lineup this year.
With the introduction of the Extended Lineup, we will be crowning a total of 16 Evo Champions at Evo 2025. Although they won’t be played in the Arena, these eight games will be featured on Evo stages, their brackets will be streamed on Evo’s official channels, and their finalists will receive medals and trophies just like the Arena Lineup titles. Including the Extended Lineup games, there are a total of 13,892 unique bracket entries across this year’s official tournaments.
Evo 2025 Entrant Game Crossover
The charts above show the entrant crossover between the Arena Lineup tournaments at Evo 2025. Street Fighter 6 and FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves have the most shared entrants, with 943 players registered for both games. This means of the 1,576 competitors for City of the Wolves, almost 60% of them are also signed up for Street Fighter 6. In terms of relative crossover entrants, the only bracket with a higher percentage is THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV, which saw close to 80% of its competitors register for FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves as well.
Approximately 60% of Evo 2025’s 8,541 competitors are only registered for one tournament, and the average number of games entered per player is 1.63. TEKKEN 8 is once again the game with the highest percentage of single-bracket participants this year. Of its 2,521 players, more than half of them are not registered for any other Arena or Extended Lineup titles. Street Fighter 6 takes second in this category with 2,016 of its 4,228 entrants selecting the title as their sole tournament. Third place goes to Rivals of Aether II, which received the most entries of all the Evo 2025 Extended Lineup titles at 358. 156 of these players selected the game as their only bracket, representing about 44% of its entries.
Evo 2025 Entrants by Country
The chart above shows which non-US countries are most represented in this year’s tournaments. Although over 90% of Evo 2025 attendees are from the United States, there will be a total of 64 different countries represented at the event this year. The countries with the most passes purchased outside of the US are Canada, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and South Korea.
Street Fighter 6 is the most entered title for most countries, with a couple of notable exceptions. For competitors from Mexico, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves is the more popular game, while the two titles are tied in entrants from Chile. TEKKEN 8 is the top choice for players from South Korea and the United Kingdom.
Despite moving from the Arena roster to the Extended Lineup this year, THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV maintains its status as the tournament with the highest percentage of entrants outside of the US; 27.7% of its 169 players are from countries other than the United States. On the flipside, Killer Instinct is the title with the fewest non-US competitors with only 5, or 4.2% of its playerbase.
Evo 2025 is quickly approaching, and we can’t wait to see everyone in Las Vegas. Although Competitor Registration is closed, passes are still available for general attendees right up until the event.
