Five thousand two hundred sixty-five players, three days, and one unparalleled competition. Street Fighter 6 returned for its second year to conclude Evo in Las Vegas. After giving us our first look at the Season Pass 2 character Terry Bogard, the players took the stage. ENDINGWALKER, BIG BIRD, PUNK, MOMOCHI, NEMO, and ZHEN will decide the next Evo Street Fighter 6 Champion.

ENDINGWALKER AND BIG BIRD commence the second Street Fighter 6 Top 6 at Evo and the final tournament of Evo 2024. ENDINGWALKER brought out Ed, and BIG BIRD selected Rashid. BIG BIRD did not give ENDINGWALKER room to build up steam, earning two decisive games and multiple perfect round wins. ENDINGWALKER found their rhythm to win the third game, bringing the score 2:1 in favor of BIG BIRD. Unfortunately for ENDINGWALKER, this shift didn’t last. BIG BIRD locked in and took the win to proceed forward while offering some friendly advice to ENDINGWALKER as they headed down to the losers side.

PUNK and MOMOCHI headlined the second winners semifinal using Cammy and Ed, respectively. In the blink of an eye, PUNK earned an undisputed win, taking both rounds of Game 1. MOMOCHI appeared to find their stride, taking Game 2. PUNK never lost steam, reacting expertly to bring the score 2:1 in their favor. MOMOCHI made some risky moves that left themselves open for the punish, giving PUNK everything they needed to win the Match, progressing them to face off against BIG BIRD in the winners finals.

ENDINGWALKER returns to the stage to face off against ZHEN with his Ed, while ZHEN used Dee Jay. While the two players seemed reasonably well matched, ZHEN slipped enough times to break that balance for ENDINGWALKER to earn Game 1. While the proceeding rounds were incredibly close, ENDINGWALKER performed better reads, knowing just when to backdash and move in on the offensive. When ENDINGWALKER only needed one more win to proceed to the losers semifinals, ZHEN struck back to take their first Game. ENDINGWALKER confidently completed the final Game with a crushing Critical Art.

MOMOCHI also returned to the stage for the losers quarterfinal, continuing to use their ED. They faced off against NEMO, who used M. BISON. Unfortunately, there was a technical error, giving MOMOCHI the round and, in all, the first Game. NEMO tried to make an impact in the second Game, but MOMOCHI was prepared to move forward in the tournament, swiftly winning two more games as they proceeded to the losers semifinals.

All eyes were on BIG BIRD and PUNK in the winners final as they showed off their phenomenal mastery of Rashid and Cammy in terms of execution, reads, and composure. Both players were undoubtedly experts in every way. That said, every time BIG BIRD found momentum, PUNK appeared to be two steps ahead. PUNK definitively earned their victory to lead the Grand Finals.

MOMOCHI and ENDINGWALKER started the first losers semifinal in an ED mirror match. Who had better control of the character? We were about to find out. Each player had a completely different playstyle with the character. MOMOCHI would walk into battle with an air of confidence. ENDINGWALKER often used Ed’s attacks that quickly covered distance and moves that pulled their opponents in. ENDINGWALKER was determined to make their way to Grand Finals, but they must get through BIG BIRD to do it.

BIG BIRD and ENDINGWALKER, after the runback, were at their last stop before the Grand Finals and continued using Rashid and Ed. ENDINGWALKER applied a ton of pressure to BIG BIRD. Were the Grand Finals in ENDINGWALKER’s future? Not right away, at least, because BIG BIRD returned to build their momentum from previous matches, taking the next two Games. While ENDINGWALKER performed admirably in the remainder of the match, nearly climbing their way to return against PUNK, BIG BIRD had the perfect reactions to win and head to the Grand Finals.

BIG BIRD and PUNK are both so close to victory, with an Evo Championship they’ve been working towards for years. The momentum appeared to go in BIG BIRD’s favor for the majority of the Match. They earned the reset with a new opportunity to take the Evo Championship title.

PUNK gained a new sense of focus in the reset Match, taking the first game with a perfect round. BIG BIRD earned a perfect round of their own directly afterward. The two players engaged in a game of tug of war, taking a round one after another. The Grand Finals went all the way to the Final Game in the Final Round after the Reset with a single combo between them. In the end, after a beautiful display of excellence, after so many near victories, PUNK has become an Evo Champion.
