UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes is another one of our main titles that was featured for the first time at Evo Las Vegas. MO.SIN, MARIO, SENARU, OUSHUU-HITTOU, NOTES, and DEFIANT proved themselves to be the Top 6 players in the world. We’ve got your first Evo Las Vegas UNI 2 tournament recap to highlight every exciting moment.

MARIO and MO.SIN commenced the UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes Top 6 using Wagner and Kuon, respectively.  The fierce competition between the two players leads to a swift victory on both sides. After the second game, it appeared that MO.SIN’s success was assured as they earned a perfect round. With each win, you could feel their confidence as they held their fist in the air. MO.SIN progressed to the winners final, sending MARIO to the losers quarterfinal.

SENARU and OUSHUU-HITTOU followed with the next match in the winners semifinal, playing with Eltnum and Seth, respectively. OUSHUU-HITTOU had an incredible defense for the early portion of the match, blocking SENARU’s relentless attacks, but all it takes is a single slip to take massive damage. SENARU took the first game, inspiring OUSHUU-HITTOU to come back and claim a perfect round and nearly earn another, bringing the score 1:1. Victory was all but decided at that point. However, SENARU returned to show they were still in the fight, winning the match and proceeding to meet MO.SIN in the winners final.

MARIO and DEFIANT faced off in the losers quarterfinal, using Wagner and Londrekia, respectively. While MARIO was incredibly skilled to make it this far, DEFIANT’s double-perfects and overall control made this a quick match. DEFIANT moves onward to the losers semifinal.

OUSHUU-HITTOU returns to the stage to challenge NOTES in the losers quarterfinal using Seth and Carmine, respectively. It appeared that OUSHUU-HITTOU would be sent home after a decisive first game. Still, as they were on the brink, they turned things around to balance the score 1:1. That burst of confidence would be short-lived, as NOTES retaliated with a swift and decisive victory to proceed to losers semifinal against DEFIANT.

Tensions escalated during the winners final as players needed three victories to advance. MO.SIN and SENARU maintained their use of Kuon and Eltnum. MO.SIN maintained impressive control of the battle with their various zoning abilities. Still, SENARU turned the tide, getting close and personal, bringing the score 3:1. SENARU heads to the Grand Finals and moves one step closer to becoming the first Evo UNI2 Champion while MO.SIN falls to the losers bracket for another chance at the title.

NOTES and DEFIANT continued the UNI2 Top 6 with the same characters they used previously: Carmine and Londrekia. The match between the two talented players pushed them to their limits, as they finished the match 2:1 with one round between them. NOTES earned their win against DEFIANT and progressed to the losers final.

MO.SIN and NOTES decide who will meet SENARU in the Grand Final. MO.SIN came out swinging after an initial round win from NOTES, taking the first game. That didn’t mean that SENARU was going to give the match away. They closed the gap and brought the score 1:1, humbling MO.SIN, who nearly attained victory. MO.SIN was too close to victory to let things slide, taking the next game and ultimately the Loser Final.

MO.SIN pulled off the runback against SENARU with full determination to change the outcome of their last match in the winners final. If the tension was high during their last battle, they skyrocketed in the Grand Finals. SENARU maintained control of the stage, even when MO.SIN managed substantial damage and would inch close to victory. Just as SENARU was moments away from the Evo Championship title, MO.SIN was filled with that same vigor we’d seen before throughout their matches in the Top 6. 

A reset felt all but imminent. SENARU knew what was on the line. Moments away from the trophy, MO.SIN took a close victory, but SENARU was committed to becoming the first UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes Evo Champion.
